Revanesse is a range of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers made in Canada and approved by Health Canada for volume, contour and lines of the face. It is known for a smooth gel that produces less swelling than many alternatives. At Rejuvenation Dermatology Calgary South, Dr. Paul Kuzel, a board-certified dermatologist, selects the product and performs every injection himself.
Revanesse is manufactured in Ontario and has been in use in Canada for over a decade. Like Juvederm and Restylane, it is cross-linked hyaluronic acid, the molecule the skin uses to hold water.
The products differ in firmness. Selecting the right one for the depth and the area is most of the skill.
The structural product, placed deep on the cheekbone, chin and jawline for lift and definition. Lasts twelve to eighteen months.
For deep volume loss in the midface and temples where a firm, long-lasting gel is wanted.
The all-purpose product for nasolabial folds, marionette lines and moderate volume, and for lips where a fuller shape is wanted. Lasts nine to twelve months.
Made for the lips, giving shape, border and hydration with a soft, natural feel and comparatively little swelling.
The finest gel, for superficial lines around the mouth and eyes and for skin hydration.
Juvederm and Restylane are comparable ranges with their own characteristics. Dr. Kuzel uses all three and selects by area and patient.
RestylaneFiller is placed among the arteries, nerves and muscles of the face. The result depends on where it goes and how much is used, and the risk depends on knowing what lies beneath.
Most patients are treated in one or two areas. Where several areas contribute to the same concern, they are planned together.
Contour on the cheekbone restores the volume that flattens with age and softens the folds below.

Swelling and bruising are the normal side effects, and are often milder with Revanesse. Serious complications are rare and are managed immediately.

The result is visible immediately and looks its best at two weeks, once swelling has gone and the gel has integrated. Because Revanesse tends to swell less, many patients are presentable within a day or two, which suits treatment before an event.
Duration depends on the product and the area. Contour in the cheeks, chin and jaw lasts twelve to eighteen months. Ultra in the folds and Kiss in the lips last nine to twelve. The result fades slowly, and many patients top up before it has gone rather than starting again.
Filler does not treat pigment, texture or lines of expression. Those are treated with resurfacing, laser and neuromodulators, often in the same plan.

Nine to eighteen months depending on the product and area. Firm products in the cheeks, chin and jaw last longest; softer products in the lips and fine lines the least. The result fades gradually.

Revanesse is Canadian-made and is noted for a smooth gel and less swelling, which makes it a good choice for lips and for patients with an event soon after treatment. Topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment, and Revanesse products contain lidocaine, so discomfort is mild. Lips are the most sensitive area. Cannula injection, used where appropriate, reduces both discomfort and bruising.
When the right product is placed in the right plane in the right amount, yes. Dr. Kuzel treats the cause of the concern rather than the fold itself, uses the least product that achieves the aim, and reviews at two weeks before adding more.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler is dissolved with hyaluronidase within minutes. This is used for the rare vascular complication and, less often, to correct a result the patient is unhappy with, including filler placed elsewhere.
Swelling, bruising and temporary lumps are common and resolve. Infection and delayed nodules are uncommon. The serious risk is injection into a blood vessel, which is rare, is minimised by anatomical knowledge and technique, and is treated immediately with hyaluronidase.
