PicoWay® Resolve
When it comes to laser skin treatments, PicoWay® Resolve is a star performer when it comes to great results with quick treatments and minimal recovery time. It’s a non-invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that uses ultra-short, picosecond laser pulses to target pigmented lesions and stimulate your skin’s production of collagen and elastin to deliver improved skin tone and texture.
PicoWay® uses a photoacoustic (vibration), rather than a photothermal (heat) effect, which means the skin doesn't overheat and cause downtime. PicoWay laser users typically have low to no downtime after treatment. Patients treated with PicoWay® Resolve can resume normal activities – and even apply makeup – within a day of treatment.
Another perk? PicoWay® Resolve is one of the few laser treatments that’s appropriate for darker and lighter skin tones.

How PicoWay® works
All PicoWay® laser treatments use a picosecond laser with high power and ultra-short pulses (a picosecond is a trillionth of a second). The technology uses two wavelengths for different purposes, one for targeting benign pigmented lesions and one for dermal rejuvenation.
With PicoWay® Resolve, the laser beams are split from a central beam into 100 identical beams, which reach below the skin’s surface. Because the laser is so fast and powerful, it creates a non-thermal effect, called a photoacoustic effect which can break up pigmentation and open up tiny spaces under the skin called vacuoles, where new collagen and elastin are built and can transform the skin over time.
The PicoWay® laser literally works from the inside out. The treatment does not cause the outer layers of the skin to break, so patients enjoy low to no downtime after treatment.

What to expect from your treatment
To start the procedure, we’ll start by cleansing the treatment area and providing you with protective eyewear. The laser may feel like little pinpricks to the skin and there may be mild discomfort, but the treatment doesn't hurt. Immediately following the procedure a calming cream will be applied along with a chemical-free sunblock to the treated area.
After the treatment, patients typically appear red for the first 24-48 hours. The redness is much improved by the next day and by the third day, is hardly noticeable. Don't plan any events for the first evening after the treatment.
Your skin will return to normal the following day and you'll enjoy the results of skin rejuvenation. Since there are no wounds or openings in the skin, there's no healing process. The following 6-8 weeks will slowly reveal desired results to the treatment area.
The perfect time to schedule a PicoWay Resolve Laser treatment is in late fall or winter when days are short and it's easier to avoid sun exposure. Regardless, you can schedule your treatment year-round but you must apply a physical sunblock of 30+ SPF and reapply every 2 hours.

How to prepare for your treatment
Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and sunless tanning products for at least two weeks before your PicoWay® treatment. The area to be treated should be free of any lotion, makeup, or sunscreen. Avoid waxing and chemical depilatories for two weeks before the treatment. Be sure to discuss any ongoing prescriptions or changes in your medical history with Dr. Kuzel before booking an appointment.
